The Operating Map
Seven working parts every customer-facing business has. Score each one honestly and find out which of them only work because you personally show up, and what your own numbers say that costs you a month.
About six minutes. You get the result on screen immediately. Nothing to sign up for.
It can come back clean
Most business audits are built so that everyone who fills one in concludes they are failing. That is a sales technique, not a diagnosis. If six of your seven parts run fine without you, the right answer is to leave them alone, and you will have spent six minutes finding that out.
What you are looking for
Not what is broken. Broken things announce themselves. You are looking for the parts that only work because you personally show up, because those are the ones that quietly cap how big the business can get.
The seven parts
Attracting attention
Anything that puts you in front of someone who does not know you yet.
Capturing interest
What happens between someone being interested and you having their details.
Staying in touch
The weeks between first contact and them being ready to buy.
Turning it into money
Quoting, closing, invoicing, and getting paid.
Delivering the work
How the job actually gets done, and who has to be there for it.
Selling again
Whether anyone goes back to a past customer on purpose.
Getting referrals
Whether happy customers are ever asked, or it is left to luck.
What you get back
Your score, the count of parts that depend on you, and the monthly cost of those parts worked out from the hours and the hourly figure you entered. Your own numbers, not an estimate of mine.
